I think in waves
Fingernails in need of a snip
Winter beachside holidays
My body sharply reminds me
of the sleeping baby’s need
for sustenance
…
I gaze forward
in anticipation, wonder
hesitation and fear
Caught in the moment
the bouquet of uncapped colours
strewn haphazardly
as if forgotten
…
If I stop
for a breath
I see how time bends
upon itself
How nostalgia
presence and hope
marry to bring that
elusive sense of
complete harmony
This post is inspired by the Five Minute Friday writing challenge. Each week I join with this talented group of writers, free writing for five minutes in accordance with a prompt. Today’s prompt is ‘future’.

“If I stop for a breath”. What true words. Sometimes the busyness of life keeps us from pausing and cherishing every moment.
It really does, doesn’t it? Busyness can be so overwhelming and distracting 🙁
Emma…wow. This is truly magical.
“…the bouquet of uncapped colours…”
You have such a gift!

Thanks Andrew 🙂 It was actually inspired by the complete havoc of textas strewn across the kitchen table, but that didn’t sound quite as poetic 😉
I love this: “bouquet of uncapped colours.” Such a rich and beautiful image. Almost bittersweet when we continue to read. Your tone is refreshing. Your poem has me thinking today. So glad to be your #fmf friend. #poetry
Thanks Carolina! I love visiting your site to see what beauty your words have uncovered every week xx
Beautiful! Oh that spikey hair. I want to snuggle that baby. I’m over in the 96 spot this week.
I have been so slack in replying this week, sorry Tara! Wish you could have some snuggles with him, he would love that 🙁
