Pressure rising
bubbling under the fragile surface
words bouncing off
darkened faces
Shallow, quick
desperate breaths
…
Gaze holding
Hands busily twisting
wheels and wishes
Gratitude rising
Peace blossoms
Luxurious air
travelling inwards
…
Panic erupting
clutching, grasping
hoping for the swell of
pain to abate
Breath ceasing
body tightening
Reminders to let fate
take hold
…
stop fighting
just breathe
This post is part of the Five Minute Friday writing challenge. Each week I join with this talented group of writers, free writing for five minutes in accordance with a prompt. Today’s prompt is ‘breathe’.

Gorgeous. Love the imagery of the ocean.
There is so much to draw from in ocean and water analogies, isn’t there? Thanks for stopping by!
Stop fighting, just breathe.
My wife had to tell me this, this evening, when I was fighting to draw breath against quite a bit of pain.
It helped.

What a tough experience, Andrew 🙁 Glad to hear that it helped for you too 🙂
*snap, snap, snap* 🙂 Love that you also write poetry. #fmfparty
How great is poetry for processing those ‘hard to categorise’ feelings?!
“Stop fighting. Just breathe.” Yes! Beautiful poetry yet again.
Thanks Tara xx
You captured a first week of firsts perfectly. And thanks for helping me procrastinate going to the store;) Poetry to shop.

Emma, your poetry is always so beautiful!
So kind, Stephanie! That means a lot xx
Emma, I feel swept away by your poetry. I definitely felt cast about, but exhilarated.
Have a wonderful weekend.
I love the way you put that – so encouraging too 🙂
Emma, this is beautiful! I’m a total loss at poetry, but you make it sound so deep and thoughtful. Happy weekend to you!
Aw, you should give it a go! I’m a relative newcomer to poetry but it has been such a rich and rewarding pursuit…
