I conspire against it
biding my time
tapping fingernails against
the steering wheel
willing life to return
to a ‘normal’ speed
again
…
‘Slow’ gives me too much
space to ask questions
to catastrophise, ruminate
be
Showing up the inconsistencies
A bright, glaring light of
truth
…
Can I learn to unclench?
To surrender to the variable
pace of an uncertain existence?
I hear a whisper travel on
languid wind
‘Let it be, let it go, let me’
This post is part of the Five Minute Friday writing challenge. Each week I join with this talented group of writers, free writing for five minutes in accordance with a prompt. Today’s prompt is ‘slow’.

Messy middle all over this one:) I’m with ya. Totally. Ivy’s face is classic.
So true! Good distinction to make… Other times it feels like slow can be glorious, but not right now…
Let it go…. let it go…. (I just had to do it) I’m in the 6 spot this week.
Haha that song goes through my head pretty much once a day!
Learning to unclench. What a great phrase. Lovely poem.
I am learning to slow down – but reminders help.
Blessings,
Janis
Thanks Janis 🙂 I always need the reminders! So glad you are moving forward on your journey 🙂
I don’t think I can respond without first saying that picture is adorable!
I loved your words. They captured the stress of overthinking and overdoing that I can fall into.
Visiting from FMF Have a great weekend!
Thanks Kelly- funny what random moments photos can capture 🙂 So glad you resonated with the sentiment… nice to know I’m not alone in my messy middle 🙂
Beautiful. Yours words dropped my shoulders, which I did not realize were hunched, and caused me to exhale. Thank you. Visiting from FMF.
That is so great to hear Esther 🙂 Life can do that to you sometimes, hey?
