The Vexing Unknown

My body knows something I don’t

Industriously creating the conditions

for a life to thrive, to flourish

Weaving together the cocoon

unseen.

The unknown triggers feeling of

fear, of frustration in me

How many heartbeats dwell within?

Will this body be knit together like

the others?

I tell myself to breathe, to rest

in the ‘not knowing’

Performing daily rituals to

honour the life that grows,

and sustain the body

that is making it possible.

Bowing head to the One

who is the Ground

of Being.

This post is part of the #Write31Days challenge that I’m participating in along with talented community of other writers. We free write for five minutes (or more) each day guided by a prompt. Today’s prompt is ‘unknown’.

  1. The rituals do it, don’t they. They spark life and ground us. I’ve been copying a poem, then writing 350 words on my book project, and making sure 10 minutes of yoga happens before 10 am. (Oh, and the pot of coffee at dawn). Your rituals will spark the most beautiful little life ever! Thank you for joining in the challenge and for inspiring me with your posts and pictures. It’s a sacred indulgence to read your words, as always.

    1. Your rituals sound amazing and so productive! Thank you so much for hosting this challenge and spurring us all on – it has been the best thing for my sanity and the experience of writing every day – just what I needed… xx
